Approximately eight years ago out of a small machine shop in Loreauville, Louisiana, the concept of Pro-Drive had begun. The shop owner, Brian Provost, being an avid duck hunter since age eight, has hunted with his father and brothers for years. Their primary sources of transportation to the duck blinds were outboards and air boats. Since airboats could not be used in some of the places they hunted, an alternative method had to be used. Long tailed mud motors were being used by some area hunters and seemed to get the job done. Therefore, Brian built one and purchased another. After using these motors, Brian found that they were effective but, always suspected there could be other options. Newer style mud motors were invented, but all followed the same concept as previous motors introduced to the United States in the early 70’s. Brian began to think that a mud motor which would operate similar to an outboard, might be safer and easier to run. Hence, the “Pro-Drive - Shallow Water Outboard” has emerged. Brian and his brother, “KP”, tested the first Pro-Drive unit about eight years ago in a small pond. Many hours of trial and error testing was completed in their spare time on two units. Approximately three years ago, after analyzing results obtained from the previous years of testing, Brian’s employees joined in the fun after hours and on weekends and built five proto-type units. These proto-types have been under continuous and extensive testing since that time through December 2002 to ensure performance, dependability, durability and long life. Upon realizing these units were performing beyond expectation and holding up to extreme environmental testing, the Provosts, along with shop foreman, Kevin Ledford, and the rest of the employees, decided it was time to introduce this motor to the public. Therefore, in March 2003, the Pro-Drive was shown in the Louisiana Sportsman’s Show in New Orleans, Louisiana. Many spectators were skeptical and were quick to give odd looks, until they saw the video of what this motor could do. With lots of positive feed back from hunters, fishermen and other individuals at the show, it was decided that the Pro-Drive would go into production. The very first Pro-Drive units were shipped out in late October 2003. Since this time, over twenty dealers have been established and are selling units in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, California, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. Pro-Drive currently has the following models available: X27 - 27 HP Kohler, and the XX – Dual Drive which is available in 27 HP or a X32 – 32 HP Kohler and a X36 – 36 HP Kohler . Hence, if you are in the market for an easy to operate, durable and dependable shallow water motor that emulates top performance, we recommend that you set up a demo by your dealer. It is the goal of the staff at Pro-Drive to ensure customer satisfaction; therefore, we do not recommend that anyone put a deposit or purchase one of our units without having driven one themselves. Thank you for visiting with us! Prodrive Videos. Absolutely amazing what they can do for you.

The PRO-DRIVE is built to tackle the tough jobs and extreme environments
that hunters and fishermen encounter. It's constructed of durable, light
weight, corrosion resistant aluminum. It's compact, easily stored and
trailers as any small outboard. The PRO-DRIVE is designed to provide the
convenience of an outboard motor and the versatility of a mud motor. Hunters
and fishermen can now travel for miles at sufficient speeds in deep water
without fatigue and access areas that can only be traveled with an air
cooled mud motor.
The PRO-DRIVE is equipped with an electric clutch for instant forward or
neutral, providing maximum maneuverability, handling and safety. No need to
lean out over the side of the boat, it's tight turning radius assists when
navigating through trails and tight spaces. Travel across slippery mud flats
without losing speed, having to stand or adjust the motor. The gear
reduction ratio of 1.5:1 allows the Pro-Drive to turn a large propeller
giving superior performance in the mud. An adjustable trim provides
additional control and eliminates tiller handle torque making longer trips
much less tiring. The trim also allows you to keep the propeller running at
the surface of the water or mud, reducing strain on the engine and wear on
the propeller.
